When we are gathering strength for trials ahead – we sit on top of that holy hill and gather its energies into our being.

Background to the essence
Thorpe Cloud is the limestone hill which rises from the steep river valley of Dovedale in the Derbyshire Dales. The hill is "reef limestone" and has fossils from 320 million years ago. I relate to this energy of limestone scenery because my original home was in this area. The flat top of the hill is a place where you can view what you have walked up from, and take rest before going forward.

26. THE DALE OF THE DOVE

From the top of Thorpe Cloud you see Hope.
It may seem far off.
What worth was the climb?
Rest and gather.

For the peace doves are gone from the valley.
The Dove is below
Flowing its limestone waters.
Step over, step over.

When the Hope birds are flying above
You make a footprint
To start the descent.
Trust their flight.
